Join a leading voice in the transport industry as a Policy Manager. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the development and implementation of transport policies and initiatives that have a lasting impact. Work with key stakeholders, including government agencies and industry leaders, to advocate for industry improvements and drive positive change. Your responsibilities will include leading policy advocacy, managing research projects, preparing submissions, and fostering industry collaboration. You'll represent the industry in committees, working groups, and with elected government representatives. To succeed, you'll need excellent communication, research, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects. With at least five years' experience in policy or advocacy, you'll bring a collaborative and proactive approach.
As the Policy Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping policy and advocacy efforts for the transport industry. Working closely with industry leaders, government agencies, and stakeholders, you will develop high-quality, evidence-based policy solutions that strengthen the transport agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy & Representation: Lead transport policy advocacy, representing the industry in key forums, government committees, and working groups.
Policy Development: Develop and communicate policy positions, submissions, and briefing notes on transport-related issues.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, elected officials, and industry partners to drive policy outcomes.
Research & Analysis: Manage research projects that inform policy initiatives, ensuring advocacy is backed by robust evidence.
Industry Collaboration: Engage members and working groups to shape influential policies, foster harmonisation, and enhance industry collaboration.
Event & Communication Support: Work with Communications and Events teams to raise the profile of transport policy initiatives through media, conferences, and publications.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of the Executive Committee's strategy and workplan.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
5+ years' experience in policy, advocacy, or a similar role (preferably in a member-based association or public service).
Strong understanding of government policy and processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, compelling messages.
Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain productive working relationships across government and industry.
Exceptional research, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
A qualification in Law, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field will be highly regarded.
