The opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) professional with strong experience in people leadership in the packaging, logistics and manufacturing space looking to take the next step as a QA Officer to join our Quality team based in Sydney.

What the day-to-day looks like

The role provides leadership to a dynamic team of QA professionals and supports the broader Quality team consisting of the QA Associates and the Quality Manager for Sydney Operations. You will contribute to existing programs while assisting with the development of new initiatives aligned with company goals. The role will be working on a wide range of QA functions including management of quality issues, QMS, GMP, TGA. As we are experiencing exciting growth across the business, this role will be working across our different sites in Western Sydney.

Main responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage a small team of QA assistants
  • Problem solving and taking a lead role in managing quality issues.
  • Good understanding of the requirements of the TGAs current Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and the effective implementation of the principles of cGMP within the code, to support the regulatory and customers requirements of the business.
  • Understand and use the companies Quality Management System to effectively perform the job role.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with the company’s policies and procedures (SOPs) to effectively manage the site’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Understand and maintain compliance with cGMP and the Quality Management System.
  • Participate in both Internal and External audits as required (including regulatory and customer audits).
  • Assist with cGMP / SOP/GDP training of staff at site.
  • Document deviations, investigate root causes, develop and close-out CAPAs to prevent recurrences and closeout deviations.
  • Assist with performing Quality Inspections for incoming goods and on-line/in-process operations and finished product in conjunction with other QA team members.
  • Oversee the sites Temperature and Pest control monitoring and records.
  • Prepare and check batch documentation for Finished Product release.
  • Liaise with customers Quality Department and Management.
  • Review and approve product Packaging Instructions/Specifications.
  • Liaise with Production and Warehouse team.
To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate
  • Experience in a leadership role with the ability to lead and manage a small team of QA assistants.
  • Experience in Problem solving and taking a lead role in managing and resolving quality issues.
  • Previous experience in Quality Inspections.
  • Knowledge of TGAs current code of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant science discipline or 3-4 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a similar Quality role in Food, Cosmetics and/or FMCG.
  • Previous training in cGMP (internal or external) and any Release for Supply training or experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of process packaging and TGA regulatory requirements for secondary packaging preferred.
  • Strong customer focus coupled with an understanding and commitment to WHS and cGMP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Committed to working collaboratively and constructively in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft products, database applications, ERP/MRP systems and QMS software.
