SYNERGY FOOD GROUP PTY LTD, has a vacancy for an energetic, experienced and enthusiastic Quality Officer, based at our food production facility in Brookvale on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Quality Officer

JOB TYPE: Full time, 40 hours per week

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation

LOCATION: 29 Carter Rd Brookvale

SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Jacinta McCombe – Business Owner

MAIN DUTIES

The successful candidate will lead all aspects of our Food Safety Program, including the development, implementation, auditing and testing of our QA program and processes.

You will have responsibility for ensuring the safety, accountability and traceability of all Synergy Food Group products and processes.

You will have special care for food safety and biosecurity matters which may arise during our production processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Main person responsible for document control, including the overseeing and development, review and maintenance of all quality and food safety systems, including: all food safety processes, methods, recipes, work instructions, specifications and records.
  • Responsible for participating, developing, maintaining and reviewing the food safety program
  • Responsible for identifying hazards that are expected to occur in the process steps, for establishing and validating the control methods for CCP’s
  • Implement monitoring systems and verification systems for control of hazards
  • Comply with safety and GMP issues.
  • Oversee testing program for shelf-life validity, micro levels, production area testing and pathogens
  • Handle customer complaints where necessary
  • Will be an active member of our crisis management business continuity team
  • Assist with QA audits of the premises and products
  • Main person responsible for training production team on Food Safety processes and procedures
  • Temperature monitoring and record keeping
  • Responsible for rejecting incoming goods, placing goods on hold and taking off hold
  • Oversee all corrective actions to maintain quality and food safety systems
  • Communicate with all staff about food safety responsibilities and all information essential to ensure that an effective food safety system governs the business. This includes - Responsibility for the communication to the management and supervisory staff of the importance of meeting statutory, legal and customer requirements.
  • Assist in new product development and the onboarding of new customers, systems and recipes
  • Ensures product safety, quality and legal requirements are maintained.
  • Ensure that products are produced, packaged and transported to customer specifications.
  • Ensure goods received are within specification
  • Responsible for corrective action and the handling and disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Recall Co-Ordinator
  • Responsible for the development, training and safety of all food handling personnel

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • Food Handler’s License
  • HACCP member certificate
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications, (Degree) or minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Minimum 12 months’ prior experience in a similar QA role, preferably in Food Production

Skills:

  • Knowledge of HACCP systems and procedures
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and XERO skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a large team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and well presented
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Passionate and self-driven

PERFORMANCE GOALS:

  • A-star rating from the Food Authority
  • Managing the Food Safety Policy for Synergy Food Group and implementing continual improvement across the business in Food Safety
  • Zero product recall goal
  • Continual development and improvement of the Food Safety Program in line with regulatory requirements
  • Develop a close relationship with all senior members of the team to ensure that they are all following the Food Safety Program correctly
  • Continual staff training and development throughout the year in all areas of Food Safety and and all GMP practices and training including, but not limited to: Food Defense and Food Fraud, Allergen Management, Chemical Training etc.
  • Ensuring Food Safety Culture is well recognised in our business and all staff understand what this policy is and feel comfortable approaching management with any issues or concerns
  • Managing Halal and Kosher Annual Certifications
