As a Casualty Claims Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of liability claims, ensuring they are handled in accordance with industry best practices. This involves thorough investigations, prompt communication, and timely resolution of claims, while providing exceptional service to clients and stakeholders. You will play a key role in assessing claims, establishing reserves, and negotiating settlements.

Main responsibilities include:
- Manage a portfolio of liability claims
- Analyse first reports to determine loss nature, coverage, and scope of injury or damage
- Conduct in-depth investigations into all aspects of reported claims, including potential fraud
- Secure and verify supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Establish accurate and timely reserves on claims
- Provide exceptional service, maintaining active diaries for timely claim resolution
- Document all developments in the claim file accurately and promptly
- Exercise sound judgement in evaluating loss, liability, injury/damage, and coverage
- Negotiate fair and reasonable settlements when applicable
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including internal departments, brokers, insureds, service providers, and legal representatives
- Recognise opportunities for subrogation and pursue where applicable
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal policies
- Oversee the use and expense of external vendors
The ideal candidate:
- Relevant tertiary qualification or industry-specific certification
- Minimum of 2 years liability claims experience
- Broad understanding of insurance industry practices and claims processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent workflow management and time-management abilities
- Customer-focused with a proven track record in service excellence
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across departments
