About the role
Work Health & Safety Officer (WHS) – Part-Time 19 hours per week.
Remuneration - $85,000.00 to $93,000.00 per annum pro rata depending on skills and experience.
We are seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join our team. As an OHS Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our organisation complies with all relevant OHS legislation, regulations, and standards. You will also provide guidance and support to our staff to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, implement, and review OHS policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Develop and implement regular OHS audits and inspections of our services, conducted by our Cluster Managers to identify hazards and risks.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on OHS matters, including training and inductions.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with management and staff to develop and implement safe work practices and procedures.
- Develop and maintain OHS records and reports, including incident reports, audit reports, and compliance reports.
- Adhere to child safe policies and act with commitment to the philosophy of a child safe organisation.
Essential criteria
- Diploma qualifications or higher in Occupational Health and Safety (or related field).
- Minimum 2 years' experience in OHS, preferably in the childcare industry.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
- Knowledge of child safe practices.
