Job Title: Intake Officer
Award: SCHADS Award Level 4.1 Reports To: Business Operations Coordinator
Community Accommodation and Support Agency Inc (CASA) is a registered housing provider. The organisation is highly respected in the Mackay region and well recognised for continuously expanding services and support to meet the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the community.

Position Purpose
The Intake Officer is responsible for providing advice, support and referrals to CASA clients seeking assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational
- Support clients to complete intake assessment.
- Support clients to complete relevant forms and applications as required.
- Build rapport with clients through active listening and provide appropriate emotional support.
- Undertake risk assessments for client vulnerability, self-harm risk, physical, emotional and/or financial abuse indicators.
- Administer financial distribution through use of Brokerage and Lady Bowen Funds, recording payments to meet funding administration requirements.
- Arrange short term accommodation for clients including booking of motels or other accommodation options.
- Adhere to the “No Wrong Door Policy” and support clients with relevant referrals to support their case management needs.
- Able to meet key performance indicators to ensure compliance with contractual requirements in line with compliance standards.
2. Governance
- Comply with applicable CASA program provisions, policies and procedures and ensure capture of relevant data for reporting purposes.
- Actively participate in supervision, performance appraisal, processes and training and other professional development activities as determined by the agency.
- Carry out work in accordance with prescribed practices and procedures and in a manner that will not create health and safety hazards for yourself or others in the workplace.
3. Stakeholder engagement
- Represent and actively promote the agency at meetings, public forums and at other networking opportunities as required.
- Engage with referral partners to create and maintain meaningful stakeholder relationships
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Queensland C Class drivers licence
- A current Blue Card or ability to obtain before commencing work.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Understanding of housing legislation and regulatory frameworks, such as Residential Tenancies and Rooming Act 2008 and National Regulatory System for Community Housing standards.
- Computer literacy and proven ability to effectively use the internet, Microsoft Office software and housing management databases.
- Ability to take relevant notes digitally during intake assessment with the client present.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of issues affecting socially disadvantaged groups and those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Accurate record keeping of client interactions and retention of documentation in client files.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work in a reactive service environment.
- Experience in dealing with complex and challenging housing management issues.
