About the role
Responsible for the assessment and processing of Traffic Management Plans (TMP) for roadworks and events within the City’s jurisdiction and monitoring of traffic management compliance on the City’s road network.
Other key duties of the role include-
- Review and assess Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) for works and events within the City’s jurisdiction.
- Prepare draft approval documentation for TMPs submitted for works and events within the City’s jurisdiction to be reviewed and/or signed off by the Coordinator Transport and Development.
- Provide advice guidance and responses to queries about traffic management related matters including associated conditions related to the implementation of TMPs, and mitigation of traffic related risk to the public or City.
- Liaise with external authorities and contractors involved in the approval and implementation of TMPs.
About the successful candidate
- Well-developed knowledge of traffic management practices, procedures and principles related to works on roads and events in Western Australia.
- Well-developed knowledge of traffic management related standards and guidelines including the Australian Standards (AS 1742.3), and Traffic Management for Works on Roads Code of Practice for Western Australia.
- Sound knowledge of construction and maintenance operations and practices related to roadworks.
- Experience in the review of TMP’s for roadworks and events.
- Experience in the design and development of Traffic Guidance Schemes as well as the selection and/or implementation of the correct Traffic Guidance Scheme required for the staging of roadworks and/or events.
- Experience in the coordination of site access management for complex, large scaled or multi-site projects and/or events.
- Current Advanced Worksite Traffic Manager (AWTM).
- Construction Induction ‘White’ Card.
- Current ‘C’ class Drivers' Licence.
What we offer
This permanent role offers a cash salary between $81,874 - $95,241 per annum plus superannuation, pending candidate skills and experience.

On 1 July, 1959 the City of Nedlands was proclaimed at the command of Governor Sir Charles Gairdner, in the packed Dalkeith Civic Hall. Mr Allan Jenkins read out the proclamation and the Minister for Local Government, Mr Leslie Logan, M.L.C. conducted the official swearing in ceremony of the new Mayor, John Charles Smith, the twelve new Councillors and the auditors. He then appointed Mr Allan Jenkins as the City's first Town Clerk. Among those present was MLA for Nedlands, Deputy Premier Charles Court.
Significant events and dates that contributed to the development of the City of Nedlands:
1893: The first move to establish Local Government in our area with the creation of the Claremont Road Board on 31 March, 1893, governing a total area of ten square miles; forty years after the death of Adam Armstrong, Nedlands' first resident.
1898: Approximately two square miles excised to form the Municipality of Claremont.
1932: Name changed from Claremont Road Board to Nedlands Road Board.
1956: Name changed from Nedlands Road Board to the Municipality of Nedlands.
1959: One hundred and thirty years after the first British settlement around the Swan River, Nedlands achieved City status. Name changed from Nedlands Road Board to the City of Nedlands while under the guidance of Mayor John Charles Smith Esq., JP Mayor.
