Technical Business Analyst

• Initial contract to May 2025 with 8 month extension
• Replacement of Agencies existing cataloguing functionality
• Hybrid working arrangements available

About the role
We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to work with a Federal Government Agency in Canberra. The successful candidate will engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address business pain points, conduct impact analysis and will be required to develop detailed requirements and workflows/diagrams following Agency standards/guidelines, enabling end-to-end traceability, and describing what success of the requirements looks like. The successful candidate should have the ability to work in a high-pressured environment, have a soft approach, be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.

Duties

• Simplifying complex technical concepts into clear and understandable language for non-technical staff.
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure requirement dependencies and impacts are accurately mapped and agreed.
• Produce supporting technical specifications such as interface specifications, page definitions and data mapping & data migration rule specifications
• Conducting user needs investigations, offer advice on process improvements and technical solutions.

Skills & experience

• User Experience background
• Extensive experience in a Business Analyst role for application implementation and system upgrade projects with a minimum of five years' experience as a Technical Business Analyst.
• The ability to translate technical concepts into clear and understand language for non-technical staff.
• Experience in using JIRA or similar tools as part of Prince2 Agile project delivery to create and manage features, user stories, product backlog items and bugs.
• Experience working with event-driven architectures.
• Solid understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC)
