Employment Lawyer – In-House Opportunity
35-hour week | Hybrid working | 5 weeks annual leave | Onsite parking

We are seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join a premium organisation operating under a trade union banner. This is a rare opportunity to work with high-end clients and senior professionals in a respected, well-resourced environment. The role offers genuine variety, with an even split between individual member matters and enterprise agreement work. You will manage your own files from start to finish, advising on complex employment and industrial relations matters. This includes representing individual members in sensitive cases, handling walk-in clients and leading enterprise bargaining negotiations on behalf of a sophisticated client base.

Working in a team of 5 lawyers you will deliver strategic legal advice across employment law, governance and compliance. You will also prepare formal submissions to government and regulatory bodies and play a key role in shaping the organisation’s industrial relations strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage your own caseload of individual member matters with autonomy
• Lead enterprise bargaining negotiations and advise on EA interpretation and disputes
• Provide expert legal advice on employment law, industrial relations and governance
• Represent members in disputes and litigation
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements
• Prepare submissions and reports for government and regulatory bodies
• Deliver practical, timely advice including to walk-in clients
• Build trusted relationships with a premium client base and key stakeholders

About You:
You are a qualified lawyer with 5+ PQE with a current unrestricted practising certificate. Ideally, you have worked in a union, membership organisation or law firm specialising in employment law and industrial relations. You are a strong communicator who enjoys running your own matters and working closely with senior clients. Commercially minded and pragmatic, you thrive in a professional environment and take pride in delivering exceptional service.
