What you'll be doing
The Peer Worker role supports Child and Youth Mental Health Services (PCYMHS) within a recovery-focused framework, fostering hope, inclusion, and person-centred care.

  • Provide peer support and role modelling through lived experience to children, young people, and families.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to enhance engagement, communication, and advocacy.
  • Support consumer-led initiatives, feedback systems, and service development.
  • Maintain professional documentation and uphold health policies and safety standards.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and education to promote mental health awareness.

  2. Lived experience of a mental health problem or of supporting a child or young person with a mental health problem and ability and willingness to share aspects of your recovery experience with others, individually and in groups.
  3. Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective working relationships with a diverse range of people, including people using PCYMHS services, their families and support people, clinicians, managers and community members
  4. Understanding of the issues faced by children, young people, their families and support people that are receiving or involved with inpatient or community mental health care and the ability to manage challenging situations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to coordinate group activities across inpatient or community settings.
  6. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, computer and internet literacy
