Position Title - Project Manager - Civil Construction / Transport Delivery

Employment Status - Permanent, Full Time

Department - Infrastructure Gold Coast

Location - Bundall Precinct

Award Classification - Stream A Level 7$1

Salary - $122,113 to $129,262 Per Year + Super - with an automatic pay increase of 4% (or up to 6.5% Brisbane CPI, whichever is greater) in October 2025

Hours - 40 Hours Per Week

About the team

The Transport Delivery team is responsible for the project management of all transport capital works projects including road upgrades, active transport, public transport and transport infrastructure renewals. Our team fosters an energetic, dynamic culture and works to manage projects with varying complexity, providing opportunities to grow and diversify your skill set.

About the Opportunity

The City of Gold Coast is the second largest Council in Australia. With over 635,000 residents and counting, and close to 1 million visitors every year, our Transport Delivery team is immersed in the delivery of projects that will ensure people and families can continue to travel around our city safely and efficiently.
This is an exciting permanent opportunity to join our team and deliver some of the Gold Coast’s landmark civil infrastructure projects.
Based on our current Certified Agreement, you will enjoy an automatic pay increase of 4% (or up to 6.5% Brisbane CPI, whichever is greater) in October 2025.

About your new role

• Managing the delivery of assigned infrastructure projects and project teams from concept planning, detailed design and specification, through to and including construction phase
• Leading project teams including external design and engineering consultancies as required
• Leading early tender involvement phases for some projects
• Providing high level, specialist technical and project management recommendations to various sections of infrastructure projects within defined programs
• Ensuring provisions of all relevant legislation, regulations, agreements, standards, policies and processes are applied and adhered to in projects
• Investigating, analysing and problem solving network issues to arrive at fit for purpose solutions
• Mentoring junior project officers and project managers within the project delivery team.

We're looking for people who have:

This position is best suited to a seasoned project manager who understands the intricacies of civil construction. Candidates with roads, intelligent transport systems and active travel experience will be highly regarded.

• Bachelor Degree of Civil Engineering or equivalent knowledge (Mandatory).
• Graduate Certificate of Project Management or equivalent knowledge (Mandatory).
• Drivers licence unrestricted (Mandatory).
• General construction induction white card (Mandatory).
• Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication with experience in drafting correspondence and briefing senior management on project matters.
• Proven experience in consulting, engaging and negotiating with key stakeholders, with the ability to influence timeframes, project outcomes and objectives.
• Sound judgement and the ability to make decisive actions.
• Structured work processes and can work independently with limited directions.
• Practical leadership skills and the ability to manage the expectations of teams, contractors and key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability in interpreting complex data, drawing logical conclusions and implications.
• Experience providing tactical and technical advice to management and elected representatives, sometimes at short notice.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders at various levels.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practice.
• Strong work ethics and a commitment to the completion of projects.
