About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at RT PLASTER as a Commercial Estimator / Contract Manager. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality cost estimates and managing construction contracts for the company's commercial projects in the Melbourne area.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards
• Negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors, securing the most favourable terms for the company
• Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and data for estimates
• Manage construction projects, overseeing timelines, budgets, and quality control
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements throughout the project lifecycle
• Maintain detailed records and documentation for all projects
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and other project documents to identify potential risks and challenges
• Maintain a database of historical project data and cost information to improve the accuracy of future estimates
• Provide support during the tender and bidding process, ensuring our proposals are competitive and aligned with client requirements
• Work closely with the construction team to monitor budgets and identify any cost-saving opportunities
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our estimating processes and procedures

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience in commercial construction estimating and contract management, preferably within the commercial construction space including; Partitions & Ceilings, Aluminium partition, External cladding, Hoardings, Doors & Hardware
• Demonstrated expertise in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and drawings
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Proven track record of successful project management, including the ability to identify and mitigate risks
• Proficiency in using construction estimating and project management software
• Degree or certification in construction management, commercial fit-out estimating or a related field
