About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Associate to join our Family Law team at McCarthy Durie Lawyers' in Brisbane, QLD. As an Associate: Family Law, you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal services to our clients, with a focus on all aspects of family law.

What you'll be doing

• Providing expert legal advice and representation to clients on a range of family law matters, including divorce, property settlements, child custody, and child support
• Preparing and filing court documents, including applications, affidavits, and submissions
• Negotiating settlements and representing clients in court proceedings
• Conducting legal research and analysis to support the team's strategies and recommendations
• Collaborating with colleagues to ensure a seamless and efficient client experience
• Participating in professional development activities to stay up-to-date with changes in family law

What we're looking for

• A law degree and admission to practice as a solicitor in Queensland
• 3-5 years of experience in family law, with a proven track record of successful client outcomes
• Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
• Strong interpersonal and client service skills, with the ability to empathise and communicate effectively with clients
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality work
• Familiarity with court procedures and processes in the family law jurisdiction
