A little about the role

Reporting to the State Director Queensland, the Assistant Director will take operational responsibility for the provision of a high quality, child safe, culturally responsive services across Queensland, and deputise externally and within KAA (QLD) for the State Director, as required.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

• Support the QLD management team in managing, developing, and providing leadership to their teams. Act as coach, mentor and advisor to staff within the agency.
• Take a lead in actively promoting a positive culture within KAA encouraging honest, respectful communication and engagement in line with the company’s vision, mission and values.
• Be an active senior management presence in the relevant region with KAA staff, the Department of Child Safety, and other key stakeholders.
• Line manage the Operations Managers, Quality and Compliance Lead (QCL) and Support Services Team Manager and any other staff as required.
• Take the lead in promoting, analysing, developing and implementing actions based on Carer and staff surveys.
• Support the development of culturally sensitive practice and cultural awareness in respect of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and CaLD children and young people, and their families.

The base salary for this position is $136,116.00 - $143,280.00 /annum (based on 1.0FTE) + super + vehicle & fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This position is full-time, ongoing.

About you

The successful candidate will come with:

• A recognised qualification in Social Work or other relevant qualification.
• At least 5 years’ experience of Out of Home Care or community services at a management level.
• A comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to statutory children’s services.
• Ability to communicate at all levels, influence, engage, negotiate, mediate and build effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
