CO.AS.IT. – Italian Assistance Association – has operated in Australia since 1968 as a charitable institution, strongly committed to the general well-being and the enhancement of the quality of life of the Italian Australian community. Role Overview:

As a Social Support Group Assistant, you will be responsible in providing professional and responsive social and recreational programs to support clients to maintain and enhance social connectedness and independence within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting clients with personal care and hygiene including but not limited to: toileting and mobility assistance.
• Perform light manual handling tasks using correct manual handling techniques.
• Identify and address risks, report hazards, incidents, and near misses using appropriate forms and procedures.
• Support clients respectfully, considering their individual values and beliefs, maintain professional boundaries, collaborate with colleagues, and make informed decisions in unexpected situations.
• Encourage and support clients to participate in activities, assist in delivering person-centred activities, respond to changes in needs, support clients in achieving care plan goals, and engage in quality improvement initiatives.
• Complete administrative tasks accurately and timely, assist with day-to-day tasks, ensure proper documentation, report health and wellbeing changes, and encourage client feedback to improve program delivery.

To best support our clients, we are looking for people with:

• Certificate III Aged Care, Individual Support, Certificate IV Disability (or equivalent).
• Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Hold a current Food Safety Certificate.
• Experience in a group social support setting and/or with aged clients is desirable.
• Ability to adapt and respond effectively to the evolving needs of clients.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients and their families and be responsive to their needs.
• Excellent customer service skills where the clients’ best interests are the focus.
• Strong understanding of community care and a dedication to delivering high standards for clients and families.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Understanding of Italian culture or language (desirable).
• Right to work in Australia.
