About the Job

GFC operates all year round to service members up and down the coast. While seasonal activity peaks between November and March we are looking for motivated team members to join our team now, with multiple Transport & Distribution Worker roles available.

• Grade 1 (Labourer/Swamper)
• Grade 4 (HR Driver)

The Transport & Distribution Worker role is a critical and dynamic role, with key working relationships with the Logistic team, the GFC depots and GFC fishermen. Physical fitness is a requirement as the role includes loading and unloading the trucks with baskets of lobsters, bait and fishing supplies which can weigh up to 30 kilos each. It is preferable that Transport & Distribution Workers have flexible availability as the working hours are outside "regular office hours" including afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends and occasionally shifts may be assigned with short notice.

Essential Job Requirements

1. Ability to pass an Alcohol Test before each shift.
2. Ability to pass random Drug Testing.
3. Ability to lift/move loads up to 30kg (dual-person lifts).
4. This position WILL involve contact with seafood and shellfish products.
5. Minimum C Class Drivers Licence
6. Ability to pass a pre-employment Medical. (Grade 4 Only)
7. Minimum HR Drivers Licence (Grade 4 Only)

Essential Skills

1. Manual handling is required for loading and unloading which will require repetitive lifting of 30kg (i.e., a need to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move and hold crates/baskets).
2. Experience driving commercially and rural/country driving.
3. A desire to want to work in a safe environment, to be safety conscious.
4. Ability to deal with situations calmly and diplomatically, allowing open communication and rapport at all levels of the organisation.
5. Ability to secure loads.
6. Ability to follow instructions in English. Basic numeracy, literacy, and reasoning abilities.
7. Ability to complete appropriate paperwork, Driver's logbook, vehicle logbook, etc.
8. Ability to wear appropriate PPE as instructed.

Desirable

1. Experience working in a light to medium industry production process workplace (preference given to seafood/meat/dairy).
2. Forklift License.
