We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our client's team. This role will focus on providing technical expertise and engineering support for the planning, design, and execution of civil infrastructure repair and reconstruction projects under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Planning:
- Conduct site assessments and investigations to determine the extent of damage to civil infrastructure.
- Develop and review engineering designs, plans, and specifications for road, bridge, drainage, and other civil works.
- Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and technical reports.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes, and regulations.
- Assist with the development of project scopes of work.
Project Management:
- Oversee the implementation of civil engineering works, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.1
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Review and approve contractor submissions, including shop drawings and method statements.
- Manage project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with project requirements.
- Review and approve materials and construction methods.
- Perform or oversee quality testing and analysis.
- Address and resolve technical issues and non-conformances.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with civil engineering works.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, government agencies, and the public.
- Provide technical advice and support to stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings and provide progress updates.
NDRRA Specific Responsibilities:
- Ensure all works comply with NDRRA guidelines and requirements.
- Document all damage, repair, and recovery works for NDRRA reporting.
- Assist with the acquisition of funding through correct documentation.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, codes, and regulations.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with2 NDRRA projects is highly desirable.
- Valid Australian Driver’s license.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
- Experience in disaster recovery projects.
- Experience with hydraulic modelling and design.
