Family & Relationship Counsellor
- Location: Nhulunbuy (East Arnhem Region), NT
- Salary: SCHADS 5.1 - $97,712.20 + Super + Salary Packaging + 5 Weeks Annual Leave
- Part-Time: 3 days per week

About the Role
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, providing culturally appropriate counselling to individuals, couples, and families. You'll facilitate group work, promote community awareness, and offer supported referrals where needed.
About the Service
This service supports individuals and families through evidence-based counselling, family mediation, and group programs. With a strong focus on trauma-informed, culturally safe, and strength-based approaches, this role contributes to the well-being of the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Counselling & Case Management
- Deliver counselling using evidence-based therapeutic models.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans where required.
- Maintain accurate case notes and ensure mandatory reporting obligations are met.
Group Facilitation & Community Engagement
- Develop and facilitate group programs and community education sessions.
- Promote the service and engage with local communities, including Aboriginal organisations.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team and participate in supervision and training.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or similar (eligibility for professional registration required).
- Experience in individual and family counselling across diverse client groups.
- Strong understanding of family law, child protection, and domestic violence frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal communities, supporting two-way learning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including case note documentation.
- Ochre Card (Working with Children Check) & National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
- Current NT Driver's Licence.
