Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of bartenders and bar staff.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure proper coverage.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment while motivating the staff to achieve high levels of performance.
Customer Service:
- Ensure exceptional customer service is consistently provided to all guests.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere, engaging with guests and enhancing their overall experience.
Cocktail & Mixology Expertise:
- Develop and curate a creative, high-quality cocktail menu that reflects the latest trends, customer favourite's, and seasonal ingredients.
- Train bar staff on cocktail preparation, presentation, and mixology techniques to maintain a high standard of drink quality.
- Stay up to date with current cocktail trends and beverage innovations, introducing new ideas to elevate the guest experience.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee the ordering, stocking, and rotation of inventory to ensure the bar is well-supplied.
- Maintain accurate records of liquor, beer, and other beverage inventories.
- Monitor and control beverage costs, ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources.
Bar Operations:
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the bar area at all times, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Monitor bar equipment and facilities, arranging for repairs or replacements as needed.
- Ensure the bar is operating at peak efficiency during busy hours while maintaining attention to detail.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations in NSW, including Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) laws and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
- Oversee the responsible service of alcohol, ensuring compliance with licensing laws and preventing over-serving.
- Ensure the bar follows all safety protocols, including food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
Financial Management:
- Monitor daily financial transactions, including cash handling, POS systems, and tips distribution.
- Prepare and submit reports related to sales, inventory, and staff performance.
- Assist in creating budgets and setting financial targets for the bar.
Marketing and Events:
- Collaborate with the management team on promotional activities and special events.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase bar sales, customer loyalty, and brand awareness.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bar Manager or in a similar managerial role in the hospitality industry.
- Extensive experience in cocktail preparation and mixology, with a deep understanding of various spirits, techniques, and drink styles.
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, cocktail trends, and beverage management.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage staff effectively, maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
- In-depth understanding of health, safety, and alcohol-related regulations in NSW, including RSA certification.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with inventory management and budgeting.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification in NSW.
- Experience with bar POS systems and financial reporting.
- Previous experience creating and developing cocktail menus for a high-volume bar.
