Calling Male Support Workers on the Gold Coast
QSSS Pty Ltd
Posted 18 hours ago
Requirements:
- Male Support workers required
- General Manual handling experience inc. Sarah Steady
- Experience in administering enemas
- Vehicle desirable
- Personal Care, Meal Prep, Community Access
- Decent Human a must
- A team to cover 108hrs / fn
These are the linear notes about who our participant looking for. Pretty cool really. He is quite laid back and while he has expectations from his Support Worker team, they are really reasonable and he is very patient. He is a sports lover, especially NRL, cricket, tennis, athletics, swimming etc. and while not overly affiliated with specific teams, he enjoys chatting sport and watching sport with his Support Workers and just having a good connection over a game.
He does need Support Workers who are reasonably fit and strong as he goes to the gym and has a home gym setup (think resistance bands, light weights, natural movements etc.) and would like workers who have some familiarity regarding this. Some of his team would also be required to take him to his gym sessions so we do need some workers who have a minimum P Plate License with a vehicle that can fit a manual wheelchair (big 4WDs may be a challenge to get in and out though).
As stated, this person has a recently acquired spinal injury and as such has limited movement in arms and legs. With this in mind, he needs dedicated, caring male Support Workers who are not too young and not too old (think 25 – 45 yrs old (ish)) who have manual handling experience (specifically Sarah Steady) who have experience in bowel therapy (e.g. enema support). The ideal Support Worker needs to have a level of strength and physical fitness to be able to assist with transfers. He needs a team who will be consistently reliable and are willing to pick up other shifts if others on the team are sick or unavailable on top of their regular shifts with him (flexibility is a must) – he will be relying on you so he can live his life. Not a small responsibility and he needs people who will take this responsibility seriously. Most importantly, he (and we) want genuinely decent humans who take their role as a Support Worker seriously. This is not for a person who just “wants more hours” - it is for someone who wants to make a difference.
Shifts will be 6 days a week with 4 – 6 hours in the AM and 4 hours in the PM
