Cromwell College is a residential college within the University of Queensland at St Lucia, associated with the Uniting Church. Cromwell is a “home away from home” for 298 under-graduate and post-graduate students.

We currently have a vacancy for a Property & Facilities Officer reporting to the Property & Facilities Manager. The role will be full time, and operate Monday – Friday, the successful applicant will be required to be on call on some weekends and during the absence of the Property & Facilities Manager.

The position will be responsible for the following:

The primary purpose of the role is to maintain the buildings and assets of the College and assist with maintaining the grounds including
General building repairs and maintenance
Adhoc maintenance requests from staff and students
Patching and painting
Basic plumbing and carpentry
Test and Tagging of College equipment
Assist with operational functions of the College when needed
Lawn maintenance and hedge trimming when needed.

Selection Criteria

Desirable Skills and experience.

• Demonstrated experience, across a broad range of maintenance tasks
• Trade qualifications in carpentry, plumbing, painting, lock replacement or plastering will be highly regarded.
• Demonstrate ability to follow direction and maintain high standards of work.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with young adults effectively and sensitively from varying backgrounds in a positive manner.
• First aid Certificate or willing to obtain one.
• Test and tag qualification or willing to obtain.
• Proven ability to maintain equipment in safe working order and the use of power equipment.
