As a Corporate Communications Officer for St John WA, you will use your creative writing skills and communication knowledge to implement communication strategies and initiatives aligned to St John WA’s values and Strategic Plan. Reporting to the Corporate Communications Lead and working within the wider Corporate Affairs team you will be set up for success with their wealth of knowledge and expertise. This is a Permanent Full-Time role working in Belmont, with two work from home days available. There is some flexibility with start and finish times.

What you’ll do:

  • Support stakeholders and leaders in communications by taking an audience-based approach.
  • Brief and project manage the creation of communications assets, working with a range of departments to ensure content is suitable for internal audiences, social media, external channels, and publications.
  • Identify and arrange training for stakeholders who require support in understanding and using the St John intranet and improving decision-making to right-size communications activities to hit target audiences.
  • Support the execution of state-wide communication strategies to enhance St John team member engagement and support the organisation's strategic vision.

What you’ll need?

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to tailor communication style, mode, and messaging to different stakeholder groups.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in internal and external stakeholder mapping techniques.
  • Ability to maintain consistent brand, tone, and messaging across different communication channels.
  • Knowledge of best practices in internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in a similar role in a complex organisation, including experience in:

o Stakeholder identification and engagement

o Communications plan development and execution

o Communication measurement and plan adjustments

o Working with cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives

o Proven experience in communication via digital platforms (eDMs, SMS, event management systems, social media).

o Experience in content development for a variety of communication channels

Qualifications and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, MS365 tools including social media and intranet.
