A bit about the role
As a Senior Property and Valuation Officer with the City of Casey, you’ll play a key part in managing the valuation database, working closely with the Valuer General and contracted valuers to maintain accurate data. Your expertise will be essential in helping our community by providing expert advice on Council rates and revenue guidelines. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing improvement of our processes, ensuring that the Council continues to deliver best practices.
In this role, you’ll collaborate across departments, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, and contribute to improvement initiatives s. Plus, working a 40-hour week means you’ll enjoy the benefit of a monthly RDO (Rostered Day Off), giving you that extra time to recharge.
What you’ll deliver
- Oversee and conduct regular importation of data from Council’s Corporate Data Base (Technology One) to Council’s Valuation Management System (VM2020) using a DB Link process.
- Perform and lead routine maintenance including ‘global updates’ in VM2020, following general valuation and supplementary valuation maintenance.
- Prepare and produce output files for the department including those for supplementary valuations, valuation best practice mapping.
- Prepare and produce specific output files from VM2020 by writing task specific access queries.
- Create and maintain Property Records within VM2020 and Council’s Property and Rating Database.
What you’ll bring
- A relevant degree or diploma in a related field such as business, property or accounting with several years of relevant experience; or lesser formal qualifications supported by extensive relevant experience.
- Local Government customer service, property, valuations, rates and revenue (including special rates & fire levy) administration experience.
- Sound knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020 and Valuation of Land Act 1960, or any subsequent iteration of these Acts and any other associated legislation relative to the function of the rates and valuation team.
- Sound understanding in the use of computerised systems to support the rates revenue functions.
- Demonstrated good financial management skills.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
