We are thrilled to share a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing FinTech organization. This role will focus on developing innovative digital customer engagement platforms. You will be creating external-facing channels that facilitate seamless interactions and effectively deliver vital information to customers. As a Principal Engineer, you will take the lead in designing comprehensive digital engagement platforms from inception, ensuring that they meet the evolving needs of the customer. It's a unique opportunity to act as the Principal Engineer for a bright and dynamic team consisting of Product Engineers, Testers, Business Analysts and a Delivery Manager.

The Principal Engineer will design how systems communicate and solve complex engineering challenges when systems do not integrate seamlessly. This individual will help lead and uplift engineers on how to approach problem-solving and adopt new ways of working. You will need to stay updated on technology trends and consider the best tools for a complex environment, demonstrating forward thinking.

The team utilizes AWS as well as legacy GPC technology, with a forward-thinking approach to AWS solutions. They work with ForgeRock and Salesforce and also use Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for document management. Data integration is a broad focus area, with an openness to various data exchange and integration mechanisms. They build pipelines and use GitLab alongside DevSecOps tooling. While they do have Docker, any experience with containerization and APIs, as well as streaming data through Kafka, is beneficial. The team also uses database technologies leaning towards AWS, including BigQuery, Aurora, web databases, and a few access databases. Ideally, candidates will have knowledge of Aurora, Kafka, Oracle, or SQL Server. Programming experience in Java, JBoss, Python, JavaScript, or Node.js is preferred.

The role is aimed at spending about 80% of your time on solution design. Currently, this is a standalone role with the potential to manage squads in the future. As the only solution designer, you will need hands-on experience in service design, the service landscape, and event modeling—gaining a thorough understanding of technical integrations and components. The remaining 20% of the role involves peer review and proof of concepts before handing them over to engineers

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead the design of a customer-centric digital platform capable of processing and managing complex data sets, including sensitive customer information, compliance requirements, and regulatory data. This will involve considering scalability, security, and user experience to create an intuitive interface for stakeholders.

**Technical Skills Required:**
- Expertise in engineering, solution design, and solution architecture, with a proven track record in delivering robust and scalable digital technology solutions that focus on customer engagement.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and experience in data integration techniques to facilitate seamless data flow between systems.
- Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka for real-time data processing.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices to ensure security is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience in Containerization technologies to enhance application deployment and management.
- Skills in creating and managing APIs to enable effective communication between different software components.
- Strong understanding of Service Design principles to enhance the overall service offering.
- Experience with database solutions, such as Amazon Aurora, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL for data management and storage.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Node.js, and Python, as well as familiarity with the JBoss application server.
- Experience with version control systems, ideally GitLab, to manage and track changes in code effectively.

Candidates should possess a solid technical foundation in software engineering with considerable experience in designing digital solutions for customer-centric applications. A background in the banking or financial services sector is essential.

This is a super exciting opportunity to make your mark in this pivotal role for the organisation.
