An opportunity exists for a Purchasing Officer based in Mount Kuring-gai. This role is Monday - Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.
About the role
This is a critical ‘hands-on’ role within our organisation and fundamental to our ongoing success. We are seeking an enthusiastic Purchasing Officer who loves utilising their proven industry experience in forecasting and optimising inventory. You will be joining an exceptional team, have an eagerness to learn, be a critical thinker and natural problem-solver, and be an effective team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Key responsibilities in the position will include:
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the demand & inventory planning process.
- Manage the day-to-day supply chain including liaising with suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, 3PL.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of analytics, systems, and data management capabilities, including metrics and reporting.
- New SKU setup, stock reconciliation, receipt, analysis, and management of slow-moving stock.
- Assist with updates of existing marketplace channels (i.e., Amazon, Ebay, Etc)
- Coordinate adequate stock holdings in 3pl suppliers
- Assist in supply of documentation to freight forwarders & online bookings
- Ensure compliance with Quality Systems and Purchasing Processes.
- Handle materials supply and stock issues and liaise with Production regarding any delays.
- Assist in the sourcing of new products, both domestically and internationally.
- Coordinate and negotiate with Suppliers for new contracts, forecasts, new purchase orders, rejections, over/under shipments etc.
- Ensure pricing and market costs are maintained in ERP system in a timely manner. Seek resolution to price increases and the effect on customer pricing.
Skills and experience required to succeed in this interesting role:
- 5+ years’ similar experience with Inventory
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to work through large data sets
- Strong systems management / IT understanding
- Experience buying and negotiating commodity contracts
- Experience working in a high SKU environment supplying to major retailers
- Working with a variety of IT platforms including Acumatica (MYOB), Ordermentum, Microsoft, etc
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to Collaborate as part of a team, as well as work independently
Successful Applicant
The successful individual will ideally possess similar experience ideally with Brand / Product based organisations within Retail / Wholesale sectors. Prior experience within the food manufacturing industry is advantageous but is not essential. We are looking for a self-starter with an agile and flexible attitude and strong work ethic who is interested in joining a rapidly growing Australian based Company as we continue to expand around the Globe.
