Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people and families? At Churches of Christ, we are seeking a dedicated Family Support Practitioner to join our Children, Youth & Families team in Bundamba.

What You’ll Do:

  • Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of children, young people, and families to identify strengths, needs, and risks.
  • Individualized Care Planning: Develop and implement tailored care plans in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide timely support during crises to ensure safety and stability.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for clients to access necessary resources and services.
  • Skill Development: Facilitate evidence-based parenting programs and workshops.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to coordinate care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Ensure services are culturally safe and inclusive, respecting the diverse backgrounds of clients.

What You’ll Need

  • Relevant Qualifications: Degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or a related field (or equivalent with more than 4yrs experience).
  • Experience: Demonstrated one years’ experience working with children, young people and families in child protection, family support, or community services context.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of child protection legislation and out-of-home care frameworks.
  • Skills: Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Current driver’s licence – P2 minimum
  • Possess a current National Police Certificate, Working with Children (Blue Card), Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) – or the ability to obtain.
