Are you passionate about supporting children, young people, and families? At Churches of Christ, we are looking for a Support Practitioner to join our Children, Youth & Families team in Mackay.
As a Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in empowering families and carers, ensuring children thrive in safe and nurturing environments.
What You’ll Do:
- Assess, support, and empower children, young people, and families.
- Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Provide crisis intervention and case management services.
- Facilitate evidence-based parenting programs for carers and parents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with foster and kinship carers.
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to service improvements.
- Work collaboratively with community agencies and referral partners.
What You’ll Need:
- Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum two years’ experience in the provision of care services to children, young people and their families in statutory care.
- Knowledge of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including the Child Protection Act 1999.
- Experience supporting children, young people, and families in community services.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse communities.
- Commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practices.
- Possess or the ability to acquire a National Police Check, Working with Children (Blue Card), Licensed Care Service (Child Protection).
