Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join Human Resources, People Services, Administrative Division.

The Payroll Officer delivers high quality, client focused and operational payroll services to clients within QUT and works within a dedicated team to perform a broad range of duties relating to the fortnightly payroll functions within the University. This position works closely with the Senior Payroll Officers, who provide the role with day-to-day guidance, supervision and workload management. The position reports to the Senior Manager who, in collaboration with the Senior Payroll Officers, provides career planning, development and performance expectations.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or relevant end to end payroll processing experience, equivalent to the completion of a degree.
  2. Proven ability and knowledge to maintain, uphold, keep updated and understand all legislative and QUT Enterprise Agreement requirements relating to Payroll Services.
  3. Demonstrated ability to enter data with a high degree of accuracy for fortnightly processing on a large, complex HR/Payroll system.
  4. Demonstrated experience in client focused service environment, with excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport, manage collaborative working relationships and engage with diverse client groups.
  5. Ability to work as part of a team, multi-task with limited supervision in a high pressure and time sensitive environment.
  6. Demonstrated record of problem solving complex customer service issues with a high level of attention to detail.
