Community Engagement Coordinator

- Travel will be required between Laurieton and Tweed Heads as this is where the GambleAware Program Northern Region (GAP) operates.
The GambleAware Program (GAP) provides support, guidance and access to services for those experiencing or at risk of Gambling harm and those affected by other people’s gambling.
We support clients to address immediate distress caused by gambling and financial hardship and to support them to make decisions about their future. A recovery focused and harm minimisation model will be offered to all clients and their affected others. Service provision will offer a welcoming, hopeful, empathic environment that is strengths-based, family-inclusive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented.
The roles key responsibilities are to:
- Increase awareness of gambling harm, options for gambling treatment and how to make referrals among relevant agencies, stakeholders, and organisations
- Build strong relationships with external providers across the region and all GambleAware clinicians
- Coordinate events for target groups to increase the profile and delivery of key GambleAware messages
- Produce promotional and educational materials that are suitable for a variety of target audiences
- Conduct community presentations, participate in local community events and spend time with local community members
- Deliver community-based help-seeking and education sessions for a range of audiences including community, health, CALD and First Nations organisations.

Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to work with initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with external stakeholders in a manner that promotes professionalism
- Demonstrated experience conducting a range of community engagement activities & group sessions
- Willingness to travel around the area for community engagement.
- Knowledge of mental health and addiction.
- Sound knowledge of local services and an ability to work effectively with clients.
- Experience and /or ability to establish effective partnerships with multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, gamblers, family and friends and a range of service providers and organisations.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills including public speaking/presentation skills
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
About you:
- 3 years of relevant experience in a community-facing role
- Experience engaging Aboriginal & CALD communities and individuals in the Northern NSW region
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Sound time management, report writing and organisational skills
- Advanced computer literacy/online technology experience (including the ability to work with MS Office, MS Teams, CRM, and other databases)
- An interest in and/or knowledge of issues relating to problem gambling
- A current or willingness to obtain a Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
- A valid NSW full driver’s license
