The Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the provision of expertise, advice and assistance relating to the management of departmental strategic sourcing activity, including the development and ownership of sourcing strategies, supplier relationship strategies and associated policies and processes.

The role is responsible for all phases of the strategic sourcing process and identification of value creation opportunities to improve value, create competitive environments, negotiate with suppliers, and execute contracts to ensure seamless availability of products and services needed to support departmental objectives.

The role suits a proactive, detail focussed, solutions thinking person who will work within the Procurement branch of Corporate Services. Responsibilities include undertaking market research and data analysis to drive process improvements and identify opportunities for innovation while ensuring compliance with DEECA and Whole of Victorian Government procurement policies and procedures.

A strong leader with highly developed commercial, analytical, presentation and negotiation skills, the role will lead negotiations to finalise high value, high risk contracts with suppliers to deliver best possible outcomes for the department.

You will also provide leadership and advice to the Procurement branch on a range of functions in support of the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO).

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant discipline (highly desirable)
• Demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices and procedures, including demonstrated capacity to understand and apply the Victorian Government Purchasing Board guidelines.
• 7-10 years' experience in managing an end-to-end major sourcing events

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
