Job Purpose
As the Football Operations Manager, you will contribute to the Western Clydesdales football department’s program delivery by providing high-level operational and logistic support to the Head Coaches and Pathways Development Manager. The Football Operations Manager plays a key role in logistics, administration, compliance and operational planning for the club.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
Management
- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Western Clydesdales football department.
- Implement the Western Clydesdales operating policies and procedures.
- Manage and mentor staff, volunteers and contractors to promote personal development and high job performance in a Club First environment.
Future Development
- Assist the Hostplus Cup Head Coach, BMD Premiership Head Coach and CEO with player recruitment and retention strategies and processes.
- Collaborate with the CEO to implement the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.
- Work with the Western Clydesdales Head Coaches, Pathways Development Manager, QRL and NRL to grow coaching and development programs, providing pathways for both players and coaches.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and business development to grow organisational capacity.
Operational Activities
- Manage and coordinate football program operations, ensuring that communication across the football department is clear and effective.
- Oversee game day activities and opportunities for the Football Department, working closely with Team Managers.
- Lead the logistical coordination and compliance requirements of all football programs, academies and competitions, working with the Hostplus Cup Head Coach, BMD Premiership Head Coach, Junior Representative Coaches and Pathways Development Manager.
- Ensure player welfare by managing schedules, travel, accommodation and player support services
- Coordinate the logistical and compliance requirements of Pathway and Development programs/activities.
- Co-ordinate match day operations, including player transport, medical support and venue preparation.
- Maintain up-to-date records of player registrations, contracts and related documentation across all programs.
- Manage the distribution of Football Department apparel pre and during the season in conjunction with the CEO.
- Manage equipment requirements within defined budgets and coordinate distribution to Team Managers/Program Leads.
- Work with the CEO, Partnerships Account Manager and Marketing and Media Coordinator to facilitate media and promotional activities/events across football programs.
- Coordinate Player Appearance requests in collaboration with the CEO, Partnerships Account Manager and Hostplus Cup Head Coach.
- Develop strategically aligned plans, business cases and options to deliver sustainable services and growth.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local leagues.
- Maintain health and wellbeing procedures for players and Football Department staff in conjunction with the Wellbeing and Education Managers.
- Assist with maintaining a robust policy and procedures manual for strong governance.
- Report monthly to the CEO on KPIs and future opportunities.
- Attend meetings as requested by the CEO.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the CEO.
Leadership
- Provide leadership to the rugby league community in the region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media, local businesses, local clubs, the QRL, the NRL and relevant local, state, and federal government organisations.
