Muir is a Tasmanian based maritime manufacturing and engineering business which produces world-renowned, high-quality anchoring equipment for marine vessels from back yard tinnies to the worlds largest superyachts and navy patrol boats.

The Role

We are now looking for a Head Office based Group Financial Controller who will oversee all finance, accounting and reporting functions and provide pro-active analysis of business performance and areas of concern to the General Manager.

The role includes oversight of the Accounts and Administration department (two people) and we are looking for an energetic and hands on person who has strong accounting, financial and commercial experience.

As Financial Controller you will be responsible for:

• Effective financial analysis of business performance
• Preparation of monthly management reports
• Cash flow management including project milestone payment planning
• Preparation for and support of the annual external audit
• P&L and Balance Sheet maintenance
• Operation of the company’s management accounting system (SAPB1).
• The continuous improvement of all accounting functions to strive for excellence, and to reduce costs and improve performance.

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Good stakeholder management and negotiating skills
• Ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate own workload.
• Experience working with multiple entities
• Knowledge of foreign currency management and hedging would be advantageous

You will have:

• A Finance/Accounting degree
• CA/CPA membership or equivalent
• At least 5 years' experience in company accounting
• Experience in project and cost accounting
• Experience with SAPB1 preferred
• Experience in manfacturing/engineering environment preferred
• Knowledge of the relevant Awards, Fairwork & NES
• Knowledge of all tax, payroll, ASIC and other statutory regulations
• Excellent knowledge of excel and financial modelling

Ideally, your background will involve experience in the manufacturing industry.
