The role
Within the organisational structure of the Women's Health Unit there are two leader Midwife Manager roles. An opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced birth unit midwife for the Midwife Unit Manager - Birth Unit and Special Care Nursery role.
To be successful in this role requires close communication and a proactive working relationship with the Midwife Unit Manager- Post Natal/Gynaecology. With demonstrated skills in leadership, employee engagement, clinical excellence and patient experience the successful candidate will embrace the challenge of leading a highly skilled and experienced team of midwives and nurses.
The Midwife Unit Manager- BU/SCN is pivotal to delivery of maternity services and will work in partnership with our Obstetricians, being responsible for all aspects of patient care, developing and maintaining safe and evidence-based clinical practices and excellent clinical outcomes, patient experience and human, financial and material resource management.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Strategic and operational maternity services planning
- Workforce planning, development and management of midwives and nurses within BU and SCN
- Management of key performance indicators, quality projects and adhering to the NSQHS Standards
- Clinical Governance, development and review of policies
- Knowledge of WHS rules and regulations
- NSW Health reporting- Birth registry
What you'll need to succeed
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant registration with AHPRA as a Midwife (Bachelor of Midwifery or Graduate Diploma in Midwifery (if Bachelor of Nursing is first qualification)
- Minimum of 5 years birth unit midwifery clinical care with demonstrated evidence based care and contemporary practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with the Obstetricians and Paediatricians
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team, coach, mentor and manage change
- A commitment to a high standard of patient satisfaction
- Be innovative and resourceful
- Proven understanding of Quality and HR systems and relevant policies and procedures
- Intermediate computer skills
Desirable Criteria:
- Post graduate qualification in health management or working towards.
