What you will be doing in this role
Lead our Orthopaedic ward known internally as the Sharpe ward as a full time Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Level 2. The Sharpe ward is a 40 bed Surgical Unit specialising in orthopaedic conditions. Our services include prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and acute presentations such as fractures, ligaments, tendon injuries and joint replacements.
As the NUM you will report to the supportive Director of Medical Surgical and lead the Sharpe Nursing and Support team to deliver high quality holistic care that meets the National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS). This is an operationally fast-paced role which will require a hands-on approach and will see you working alongside a multidisciplinary team including the senior leadership team.
Who we’re looking for
- You’ll have previous experience as NUM - preferrable but not essential. Team leaders with acting NUM experience are encouraged to apply.
- You’ll hold a Post Grad qualification in Leadership or Manager or working towards it
- You’ll be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge with a min of 2 years post grad experience ideally within the Orthopaedic field, but we will consider other backgrounds.
- You’ll be able to demonstrate a commitment to process, quality and have a solid understanding of the National Standards.
- You’ll have strong interpersonal skills with an authentic & respectful communication style and can work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and senior executives.
- You’ll hold a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with full Australian working rights
