About Us
TMJ Clinics is a leading multidisciplinary clinic specializing in the treatment of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders. Our patient-centred approach combines dental and physiotherapy expertise to deliver holistic care. We are expanding our operations and setting up a brand-new, state-of-the-art dental lab. We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer to join our team and take a hands-on role in the full design, milling, and finishing process of TMJ-specific splints, as well as contribute to the successful establishment of our new lab.
Role Overview
As a Biomedical Engineer at TMJ Clinics, you will be involved in every step of the design, milling, and finishing of custom TMJ splints. This includes using advanced technologies like CAD/CAM systems, milling machines, and 3D printing to ensure the creation of high-quality, patient-specific devices. You will also play a key role in the setup and ongoing management of our new dental lab, ensuring all equipment is optimized and that processes run smoothly for the highest quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Fabricate TMJ-Specific Splints: Utilize CAD/CAM software (such as Exocad, 3Shape) to design custom TMJ splints tailored to individual patient needs.
- Milling and Finishing: Operate milling machines and 3D printers to manufacture and finish the splints with precision, ensuring optimal fit, comfort, and therapeutic outcomes.
- Lab Setup and Optimization: Contribute to the establishment of a new, fully functional dental lab, ensuring that all equipment is installed, calibrated, and ready for daily use.
- Process Development: Develop and implement efficient processes for creating, finishing, and adjusting TMJ splints, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with Clinical Team: Work closely with dentists and physiotherapists to ensure the fabricated devices meet patient-specific needs and support treatment goals.
- Quality Control: Perform thorough testing and quality assurance checks to ensure all devices meet regulatory standards and function as required.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and address any issues with lab equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining a high standard of quality control.
Skills and Experience:
- A degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with CAD/CAM technologies, milling machines, and 3D printing is essential.
- Prior experience in medical or dental device fabrication is highly preferred.
- A background or strong understanding of TMJ disorders would be advantageous.
- Experience setting up and managing medical or dental lab equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with medical device regulations and quality control standards.
