The Town is seeking an experienced Urban Forest Officer to work alongside a passionate team of Urban Forest, Land Care, and Field Officers. The suitable applicant will be working in Western Australia’s leafiest council, which is one of only twelve national councils to achieve a low heat vulnerability rating due to the town's green canopy (Where Should all the Trees Go, 2017).
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Procuring and managing tree stock levels of trees and related materials.
- Scheduling and supervising the annual tree planting and maintenance programs.
- Providing training to parks field officers on planting, pruning, and ongoing treatment of the Town's trees.
- Assisting in the supervision of Town’s contractors.
- Responding to external stakeholder and ratepayer queries.
- Liaising with DPIRD and other government agencies as required.

The suitable applicant will have a qualification relating to arboriculture and tree risk assessments and be able to provide technical advice on best practice tree management.
