Position Overview:

The Range Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation of the Silverdale, Holroyd, Hornsby, and/or Anzac ranges on a rotating roster. This role involves supervising range activities, supporting volunteers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining equipment and supplies, coordinating maintenance and contractor activities, and managing retail and customer service operations, including POS transactions. The Range Supervisor works closely with the Range Operations Manager to ensure a safe, efficient, and customer-friendly environment for all range users.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rotating Roster of Ranges: Supervise and manage the operation of Silverdale, Holroyd, Hornsby, and/or Anzac ranges on a scheduled rotation, ensuring consistent operations across all locations.
• Range Operations: Assist in opening and running the assigned range for each shift, ensuring smooth and safe operations.
• Volunteer Supervision: Support and oversee volunteer Range Officers, ensuring adherence to Range Standing Orders and scheduling appropriately.
• Casual Staff Supervision: Supervise and roster casual staff, ensuring compliance with range protocols, safety standards, and customer service expectations.
• Retail Management & POS Operations: Oversee retail sales and customer service at the range, ensuring proper inventory management, pricing, and sales reporting. Process POS transactions efficiently and train staff in correct POS usage.
• Cash Handling & Financial Accuracy: Manage daily cash transactions, reconcile financial records, and maintain accurate reporting of all financial activities, including sales and range fees.
• Supplies & Inventory Management: Maintain and stock all necessary supplies, ammunition, and range equipment, ensuring adequate inventory levels at all locations.
• Cleanliness & Upkeep: Ensure all ranges, facilities, and retail areas are kept clean and organized, including rubbish removal and routine maintenance.
• Customer Engagement & Try Shooting Activities: Supervise all activities involving firearms, including one-on-one instruction and try shooting experiences.
• Firearm & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper cleaning and upkeep of ranges, targetry, and firearms, including organizing maintenance schedules.
• Issue Escalation: Immediately report any issues beyond the scope of the position to the Silverdale Range Manager, Range Operations Manager, or Executive Officer.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all volunteers, casual staff, and range users comply with SSAA’s safety protocols, Range Standing Orders, and legal requirements.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as directed by the Branch.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have Category A/B and H Firearms Licence
• Must be a SSAA member or prepared to become a member
• Experience in range operations, retail management, or a similar supervisory role.
• Knowledge of shooting sports, firearms safety, and range management best practices.
• Experience in POS systems, cash handling, and financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks and coordinate contractor activities.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and customer-friendly range environment.
• Ability to work on a rotating roster across multiple range locations.
