About the role

Gamumbi ECEC is seeking an experienced part-time Early Childhood Centre Cook to join our team in Toormina, NSW. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the children in our care, ensuring their dietary and cultural needs are met.

What you'll be doing

• Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals and snacks for children aged 0-5 years
• Ensure all meals comply with dietary requirements, including any allergies, intolerances or cultural needs
• Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, following food safety and handling regulations
• Collaborate with educators to incorporate learning opportunities around food, nutrition and sustainability
• Contribute to menu planning and food budgeting for the centre
• Provide a welcoming, nurturing environment for children during mealtimes

What we're looking for

• Relevant qualifications in commercial cookery or food preparation, with experience in a childcare or school environment preferred
• Strong understanding of nutrition, food safety and hygiene practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with the early childhood team
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to the dynamic needs of young children
• Passion for supporting the health and wellbeing of children through nutritious, quality meal
