About the role
We are seeking a suitability qualified Assessment Officer to join the Development Assessment team at Woollahra Council.
Working as part of a dynamic team of fellow Assessment Officers, Senior Assessment Officers and Team Leaders, you will be responsible for assessing applications under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, as well as contributing to policy development, providing advice to customers and staff, and reporting to Council.
By joining our team, you will gain exposure to a varying range of developments, from commercial to residential, harbour foreshore to heritage conservation in areas such as Double Bay, Paddington and Woollahra, gaining invaluable skills and experience. You will work alongside a diverse team that are passionate about the work they do but also love to have fun while doing it!
About you
We are looking for someone that has a genuine desire to challenge themselves and is looking to further progress their career with Council.
You will demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in a similar role with the ability to clearly communicate key planning and development related issues with a focus on delivering a positive customer experience at all times.
Essential Criteria
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or significant prior experience as an Assessment Officer
- Relevant practical experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated competence of processing of development applications within local government; or equivalent
- Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills and commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Computer literacy
- Current C Class driver’s licence
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Council’s corporate values
