About the role
The position will assist the Program Leader Inclusive Education, teachers and the students in their care. The role will provide physical support and assistance to students with high needs, disabilities, disorders and impairments. This will include working with students as directed by the teacher, to practice the development of specific skills, such as reading and writing, lead small groups through educational activities and learning games and assist students with practical classes (cooking, art, workshop). The role will also provide support to students during excursions or extra co-curricular activities.
About the contract
The position is a permanent, part time (30 hours per week), term time (40 weeks per year).
About you
To be considered for this role you will need:
- Be committed to the goals, ethos and mission of the College as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice Tradition.
- Possess a current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card for paid employees.
- Certificate III in Education Support (desirable).
- Qualifications or previous experience with learning assistance technology (desirable).
- Previous experience in a similar role, providing support to teachers in a classroom setting, whilst displaying respect, patience and empathy for students.
- Excellent administrative and accurate data entry skills including demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs and information management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact positively with a wide range of stakeholders including, students, staff, and the wider community.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise in order to meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously, as well as contribute towards a team environment.
