About the Role

The position of Allied Health Educator is an exciting and challenging career opportunity within Gippsland Southern Health Service.

The Allied Health Educator will facilitate educational opportunities at both Leongatha and Korumburra. The role will work closely with Allied Health Leadership, including the Allied Health Manager, to whom this position reports.

As an Allied Health Educator at GSHS you will be responsible for:

  • Source and develop training specific to cultural safety.
  • Support the Aboriginal Liaison Officer and demonstrate a commitment to cultural safety, working together to ensure culturally safe principles are embedded into the education provided.
  • Provide input, as invited, to service design with a cultural safety lens.
  • Promote an environment that facilitates excellence in allied health practice and individual staff performance, and plan, develop and evaluate education programs to achieve best practice.
  • Act as a main point of contact for students, graduates, early career staff and external service providers.
  • Ensure timely reporting and achieving submission dates.
  • Clearly and promptly communicate any issues of concern related to the work environment and/or clinical practice to the Allied Health Manager.
  • Collaborate and liaise with stakeholders to support the establishment and implementation of a graduate program.
  • Liaise with other Divisions / Department Heads to identify learning needs and making appropriate recommendations to the Allied Health Manager/Executive/ Team Leaders.
  • Report and document relevant clinical practice issues pertaining to portfolios of work to the Allied Health Manager.
  • Provide accurate and timely monthly cultural safety reports as requested / required by Director of Allied Health.
  • Support the Primary Health team with BLS, Manual Handing, Hand Hygiene and other related educational compliance.
  • Seek out opportunities for funding and grants for professional development and education opportunities.
  • Identify potential training opportunities or gaps for Allied Health staff to determine areas for further education and development.

About You

  • The successful applicant will possess the following: Recognised University qualification as an Allied Health Professional.
  • Current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency for relevant disciplines) or current membership of Allied Health professional association.
  • Current Police Check.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in relevant area of speciality in the acute and/or community health environment or demonstrated advanced clinical leadership and education skills.
  • The ability to promote and support change throughout an organisation.
  • Certificate IV Workplace Training & Assessment or the commitment to undertake this course.
  • Evidence of ongoing self-development and current ALS competence.
  • The ability to plan and develop education programs to achieve best practice.
  • The ability to evaluate service effectiveness and education programs to guide improvements and achieve best practice.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • A commitment to maintaining and delivering high quality patient care.
  • Sound knowledge of the health industry operations
  • Proficient computer literacy; Microsoft Office, Uniti and MANAD.
  • Current Driver’s License.
