The Role:

Are you a passionate Cultural Educator looking to make a positive impact on at risk youth in a school setting? If so, we have an opportunity for you at our CARE school as a Cultural Engagement Support.

As a Cultural Engagement Support, you will work closely with the Principal and Teachers to assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Your role will involve:

  • Liaising with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Providing cultural safety and creating a supportive environment.
  • Building strong connections with students and their families.

This role is offered as permanent full-time 10 - days per fortnight or part time - 8 days per fortnight.

Selection Criteria

  • Under section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, Aboriginality is a genuine requirement for this position.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Established knowledge of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander culture, society and kinship networks as well as the ability to communicate with and be accepted by Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Ability to build relationships and connections with colleagues, students and families
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • Unrestricted drivers’ licence
  • Working With Children Check
