We are currently seeking support workers to work with our expanding community.
Vis-Ability Support Services is a completely mobile service that works with clients in their homes or in the community. At Vis-Ability Support Services we believe that everyone deserves to be seen and heard. With this belief our goal is to provide services that break down barriers people with a disability may face and assist them to live their lives to the fullest. We aim to provide services that empower people living with a disability to state their goals and then work collaboratively with them to achieve these goals. We believe this is possible through our person-centred and holistic approach to support.
We are moving into a phase of growth with a goal of growing whilst ensuring the quality of support provided to our clients is not impacted. As such, we are looking for motivated and proactive support workers who embody our values of respect, honesty, and empowerment to join our team.
We primarily service areas around Sydney’s CBD, East, Inner West, South, and South-East, .
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Work with clients to provide them:
- Person-centred care to assist them in achieving their goals
- Support to engage meaningfully in the community
- Transport and accompaniment to attend appointments
- Domestic assistance to help them maintain their homes
- Assistance with meal preparation
How a day may look like:
- Starting with a client who requires support with their morning routine of having breakfast, a reminder to have their medications, and tidying their home.
- Heading to the next client who requires transport and accompaniment to attend an appointment (legal, medical, or health).
- End the day with a client who wishes to have some social support whilst in a café.
This role can entail a significant amount of driving. As such, we aim to always schedule the clients who you will be working with in a day to be at most a 30 minute drive from one another, and ensure you are reimbursed for the travel time, parking fees, and KMs travelled.
To be successful in this role you may have:
- Certificate/Diploma in Disability and/or Mental Health, or other related disciplines.
AND/OR
- Previous experience working with people with a psychosocial disability.
Essential Requirements:
- Passionate and motivated to support people with a disability
- An ability to work independently with integrity
- Confident and proactive with strong interpersonal skills to establish relationships with clients and other stakeholders
- National Police Check
- Working With Children's Check (if applicable)
- NDIS Worker Check
- Current First Aid CPR
- 2 Doses of Covid-19 Vaccination or Medical Exemption Form
- A current Australian Driver’s License and access to a reliable car (every shift)
- Happy to work Short & Long Shifts
Skills & Experience:
- Domestic assistance and meal preparation.
- Assistance with daily life (may include personal care)
- Community access and transport (with the use of your own vehicle).
- Ability to always remain composed and respectful.
- Documenting and progress note keeping.
