We believe in the power of place-making and social connections to create thriving environments. Our initiatives, including our social enterprise Hortus, focus on community spaces, offering garden design, build, and maintenance services. Our rooftop garden produces fresh cultural foods for our community programs, and our purpose-built Correa Kitchen in Prahran serves as a hub for food literacy education.
As we embark on an exciting strategic refresh, we are seeking a passionate Strategic Communications Manager to join our team. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape how we engage with our stakeholders and enhance our community connections.
The Role
As our Strategic Communications Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing our external communications strategy. You will work closely with our operations and social connections teams to create compelling content that resonates with our diverse stakeholders. Your expertise in communication will help us bridge gaps, enhance engagement, and tell our story effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Stakeholder-Centric Communications: Craft content that enhances the experience of our programs and enterprises, ensuring it is accessible and engaging for all audiences.
- Identify and Solve Communication Challenges: Analyze existing insights and develop creative solutions to improve our communication strategies based on engagement data.
- Tell Our Story: Create strategic and brand-aligned content that builds rapport with media and highlights our strengths.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use analytics to monitor content performance and continuously refine our engagement strategies.
- Mentor and Support Teams: Provide guidance to internal teams on managing external communications effectively.
- Manage Communication Channels: Oversee the creation of newsletters and high-quality written materials, along with the supervision of our social media content.
- Brand Implementation: Assist in the rollout of our refreshed branding, set to launch in July 2025.
About you
- Proven experience in communications, particularly with audiences who may not have English as their first language.
- Familiarity with Auslan and experience with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community is a plus.
- Strong understanding of co-design principles and a creative problem-solving mindset.
- High-quality writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in communications and audience engagement, including media relations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other relevant IT tools, including online event marketing platforms.
- A commitment to evidence-based and evaluation-driven practices.
- Relevant qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Current Working with Children's Check and National Police Check.
- Right to work in Australia.
