CPHS offers a statewide primary health service to prisoners who are in the custody of Tasmania Prison Service. CPHS provide clinical care to the ageing, chronic disease management, alcohol and other drug and mental health presentations. This provision of care is undertaken in an efficient, timely and patient-centred manner. CPHS promotes the healthcare rights of individuals in order to achieve the best possible health outcomes for its patients. CPHS works with all key stakeholders to ensure the provision of high-quality care and treatment that is of an equivalent standard to that provided in the community. The Role:
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Correctional Primary Health Services (ANUM - CPHS) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:
- Works in partnership with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and/or Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice
principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework. - Assists the ADON and/or CNC with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day patient care activities, including patient flow.
You will need:
- Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within a contemporary healthcare framework.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures, and protocols.

Details of appointment:
Multiple permanent, full time, shift-worker (fully rotational) positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,570 - $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Correctional Allowances:
- Correctional allowance of 6.5%

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

- Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications
