Seeking skilled Lead Preparators with demonstrated experience in production workshops and/or mount-making to join our team. Candidates will have a passion for museum projects, fine craftsmanship, best-practice fabrication techniques, and new technology and enjoy working in a team environment.
The Lead Preparator is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of exhibitions, programs and events across all Powerhouse sites and offsite venues, including Ultimo, Parramatta, Castle Hill, and Sydney Observatory.
Responsible for the coordination of staff and resources in the production workshop, the Lead Preparator provides leadership, expertise and support to the team, while maintaining high standards, considering conservation practices, safety for the collection items, and WHS practices within the directed design guidelines. This includes supporting the Production Managers to oversee the construction, fabrication and installation of all exhibitions, collection displays and other Museum projects to meet international museum standards.
