Role Title: Sewing machinist

Job description

We are looking for a sewing machinist who wants to work in a small collaborative environment. The role is perfect for you if you are keen to learn, have a proactive mindset, and have a sense of humour and love sewing.

You will be trained in making flags using our patterns and templates. You will be working as part of the team to produce predominantly fully sewn flags, so a cooperative team player. You are required to cut out the fabric and follow the patterns to complete the flags.

We place great value on aptitude as we can train the rest, as we know that making flags will not be something you have experience in. Our staff have come from a range of sewing backgrounds, from bridal and tailoring to curtains and swimming costumes, so long as you have used a commercial machine and have adaptable skills we can show you the rest.

We are a flagmaking business that has been manufacturing in Australia for over 115 years. We are looking for a hardworking team player who prides themselves on their workmanship and excellent attention to detail.

Skills and experience

You will need to have experience with industrial machines and the ability to follow patterns and apply sewing skills to new challenges, as most of our flags are custom-made with detailed artwork. Any flagmaking experience would be a wonderful asset but not required as we will provide training. Experience in cutting and/or pattern making would be highly desirable also.
