About the role
Join Merri-bek City Council as a Recreation Services Officer and help support local sporting and recreation clubs while ensuring the community has access to high-quality sporting facilities. In this hands-on role, you’ll coordinate the allocation of sports grounds, pavilions, and sporting infrastructure, working closely with clubs, associations, and community groups to meet their needs. You’ll be responsible for managing bookings, lease agreements, and maintenance requests, ensuring our facilities are well-maintained and accessible for all.
We’re looking for a motivated professional with qualifications in sports management, recreation, or leisure studies, who is passionate about fostering community participation in sport and recreation. Strong administrative, organisational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including sporting associations, schools, and council departments. Skills and experience require to perform the role
• Tertiary Qualification in Sports Management, Recreation, or Leisure Studies.
• Experience in the coordination of sporting facilities or working within the recreation industry is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated well-developed written communication skills.
• Experience in sport administration and facility development highly desirable.
• Well-developed time management skills.
• Experience in assisting with small capital works and maintenance programs highly desirable.
• Demonstrated high level of administrative skills.
• High level skills in Microsoft office applications.
• Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
