Apply broad multidiscipline scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate to ensure that the pathology service meets the requirements of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS), commensurate with level of experience.
Participate in and contribute to a co-operative team within the laboratory with effective communication within the team and with clients internal and external to the laboratory thereby ensuring optimal client satisfaction.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a multidisciplinary laboratory.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidisciplinary service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) formal qualification (s) in medical laboratory science.
- Shift conditions (will be required to work a rotating roster of day, evening and night shifts over a 7 day period).
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties
