Participate in a continuous shift roster across 24 hours, 7 days.
With demonstrated experience, or as experience builds, apply increasingly independent scientific judgement to more complex problems and decision making, under the scientific supervision or professional guidance of more senior staff.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- This is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team, so qualities of resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability to contribute positively to a team environment are essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise, and skills within a multi-skilled laboratory.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a multi-skilled laboratory team under the supervision of more senior practitioners.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to routine and complex scientific duties in a multi-skilled laboratory with the provision of results and advice in a client focussed manner.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
- Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Possession of a B App Sc (Medical Laboratory Science) or an equivalent qualification.
- Participate in a continuous shift roster across 24 hours, 7 days.
- Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.

Vaccine Preventable Disease requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
